To & From The Airport
Whether you are planning to travel by Car, Bus, Taxi or Train, Glasgow Prestwick Airport has excellent transport links to help you get to and from the airport.
Situated on the Glasgow Central to Ayr railway line, Glasgow Prestwick Airport is served by its own railway station which is accessible by a short covered walkway to/from the airport terminal building.
There are two trains an hour to both Ayr and Glasgow Central Station. The journey from Glasgow Central Station takes about 40 minutes, and to Ayr, it takes about 10 minutes. Trains run from around 6am to 12:15am, and on Sundays from 9am to 11pm.

Glasgow Prestwick Airport produces an ‘Accessible Travel Policy’ (updated April 2025) for passengers travelling to or from the airport via rail.
Stagecoach Western X77 Express service operates to/from Ayr Bus Station and Glasgow Buchanan Street Station. This is a direct service stops right outside the airport on the A79.
Buses to Prestwick Airport from Ayr operate every 20 minutes, taking approximately 18 minutes for the journey. From Glasgow, buses run every 30 minutes, with a journey time of about 44 minutes. The bus services from Ayr start at 6:00am and end at 11:30pm, while services from Glasgow start at 7:15am and end at 00:05am. On Sundays operating hours may differ, with services starting later and finishing earlier.
In addition to the main routes between Ayr and Glasgow, there are other bus routes that serve Glasgow Prestwick Airport. These include services from nearby towns, providing convenient connections for passengers.

Traveling to and from Glasgow Prestwick Airport via taxi is a convenient and comfortable option, especially for passengers with heavy luggage or those who prefer a direct route to their destination.
Taxis are readily available outside the terminal building, with Streamline offering a direct and hassle-free journey. If there are no taxis at the rank, a free phone is available in the terminal building at the exit to the left of WHSmith.

Other private hire taxis can be pre-arranged, with drop-off and pick-up located directly outside the front of the terminal building.
Assistance
Fully accessible taxis are available to wheelchair users at the airport taxi rank. Help points are located at the entrance columns to Car Parks 1 & 2 and at the car park payment stations in the taxi drop-off area. If you need assistance from your taxi to the terminal building, please ask your taxi driver to contact the airport via one of the Help Points.
