Run the Runway 2025 Raises an Incredible £163k for Charity

Run the Runway 2025 has raised an outstanding £163,000 for its three nominated charities — and sponsorship money is still coming in.

On Sunday, November 9th, 1,400 fundraisers ran either a 5k or 10k along the runway and taxiway at the Airport to raise money for Ayrshire Hospice, The Beatson Cancer Charity and Doing It For Daniel Foundation. They braved typical Scottish winter weather – heavy downpours and wind gusts, but nothing could dampen their spirits.

It is the second year the Airport has hosted the Run The Runway fundraiser in support of the three charities. To date the fundraising total stands at £312,000 across both events.

Glasgow Prestwick Airport CEO Ian Forgie said“We are delighted to see such an incredible total raised once again for our three charity partners. Over the past two years, our airport community, local businesses, and hundreds of dedicated runners have come together to raise a phenomenal amount. These funds will make a real difference to the charities that provide vital research, treatment, and care for people affected by cancer. I want to thank everyone who supported us -from our participants and volunteers to our sponsors – for making this event such a success.”

The event couldn’t have taken place without the 200+ volunteers from the charities, airport staff, Police Scotland Youth Volunteers and local community who marshalled the runway, terminal building and car parks to ensure everyone had a safe and enjoyable experience.

The airport extends special thanks to headline supporter Lagan Airport Maintenance Ltd for again offering to sponsor this year’s event.

It would also like to thank a number of other local businesses whose support made Run the Runway possible:

  • Emergency One (company donation)
  • Paterson Safety Air Systems (company donation)
  • Connect Communications (company donation)
  • Doghouse Installations, (water sponsor)
  • Centurion Signs (signage)

Many of these businesses also supported last year’s Run the Runway, and the airport is deeply appreciative of their continued commitment to the cause.

Run the Runway continues to grow as a unique and inspiring charity event, inviting participants to run a midnight 5K or 10k along the airport’s runway – an experience like no other.
