Over the last 12 months, Glasgow Prestwick Airport has experienced exceptional growth. As our cargo import and export operations have expanded, so too has our workforce, with new departments created to support increased demand across the airport.

To ensure we remain at the forefront of operational excellence, our HR function is now looking to expand. We are seeking an experienced HR Adviser.

In this role, you will provide comprehensive advisory support ensuring an effective, efficient, and aviation industry–compliant HR service is delivered across the organisation.

Reporting directly to the HR Business Partner, you will act as a trusted HR administrator, supporting a dynamic and diverse workforce in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same.

Key Responsibilities

Employee Relations

  • Provide professional advice and guidance to managers on a wide range of employee relations matters, ensuring fairness, consistency, and legal compliance.
  • Manage complex and multifaceted ER cases, escalating to HR Business Partner where appropriate.
  • Respond to employee and management queries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Support the review and development of HR policies and procedures.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with Trade Union representatives.

Occupational Health & Wellbeing

  • Proactively manage absence cases in line with company policies and procedures.
  • Own and manage the absence caseload, ensuring welfare meetings are conducted and trends are identified.
  • Support and promote health and wellbeing initiatives across the business.
  • Prepare and submit occupational health referrals as required.
  • Undertake Drugs and Alcohol (D&A) testing (following relevant training), including participation in an out-of-hours on-call rota.

Employee Engagement & Development

  • Support performance development reviews and learning and development initiatives.
  • Contribute to employee engagement initiatives and people communications.
  • Work collaboratively across departments to support effective engagement and communication.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Work closely with Finance and Payroll to advise on people-related pay matters (e.g. sick pay, family leave).
  • Support annual salary review processes.
  • Promote employee benefits and support continuous improvement of offerings.

Policy & Procedure Management

  • Draft, review, and implement HR policies in line with legislation and best practice.
  • Ensure policies remain compliant with employment law and regulatory requirements.
  • Support policy rollout and provide guidance on interpretation and application.

Management Information & Reporting

  • Support the collation and analysis of HR metrics and reports.
  • Assist with statutory and external reporting requirements, including gender pay gap reporting along with ONS reporting.
  • Maintain accurate people data across HR systems.
Skills and Experience
  • Experienced HR professional with strong employee relations knowledge,
  • Excellent communication skills, and the confidence to advise and influence at all levels.
  • You will be highly organised, adaptable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, regulated environment.
  • Previous HR advisory experience is essential.
  • Strong ER and employment law knowledge and experience.
  • Experience of working within an aviation / logistics / manufacturing or similar operational environment experience (desirable).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Excellent note / minute taking ability, with good attention to detail.
  • Ability to advise various stakeholders, using sound judgement and mitigating risks.

  • Where applicable, undertake a Counter Terrorist Check (CTC) and understand that deployment to any security related activities is conditional upon the satisfactory result of such a check.

Notes for Guidance
