Glasgow Prestwick Airport have an exciting opportunity for a Facilities Manager to join our dedicated team at Prestwick, to ensure safe & efficient management of the Airport Facilities department and compliance of buildings/services within your remit.

 This position would be suited to someone with minimal 5 years management experience within a facilities management role.  Ideally qualified in a mechanical and/or electrical discipline. (City & Guilds/SVQ L3/HNC).

The role reports directly to Head of Facilities & Projects, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Salary is dependent on experience.

Job scope:                             

To carry out the duties associated with the day-to-day Management of the Airport Facilities Department.

Manage & direct staff within the department.

To manage and oversee project works which may be delegated to you by the Head of Facilities and Projects.

 Experience required:

  • Delivering scheduled maintenance, repairs and replacement of:
    • M&E systems
    • Safety systems
    • Building fabric
  • Ensuring compliance of all systems to current legislation and industry standards.
  • Managing facilities trades for self-delivery of maintenance and repairs, alongside installations and refurbishment works.
  • Driving a positive Health & Safety culture, and strong knowledge of industry regulations.

Accountabilities / Responsibilities:    

  • To assist the Head of Facilities and Projects in the modernisation of the Airport Facilities department.
  • Plan the working days, weeks & subsequent months for the facilities team under your control.
  • Have overall control to ensure all planned maintenance work is carried out within the prescribed intervals.
    • Liaise with the Facilities Co-Ordinator
  • Have overall control to ensure any/all remedial work is carried out in a timely & safe manner.
  • Ensure any overdue maintenance is closed off in a timely manner.
  • Meet suppliers as & when required.
  • Control of the stores management and purchasing for facilities and ensure that suitable spares are maintained in stock.
  • Prepare quotations for customers & approve invoices for the department.
  • To implement and record (for audit purposes) facilities maintenance schedules as agreed by the Head of Facilities and Projects.
  • To have oversight of the electronic job logging system and ensure all defects are adequately recorded and a closeout process is in place to confirm repairs have been completed.
  • To liaise with other departments to ensure all repairs are reported (and recorded) and remedial action is carried out in a safe and effective manner.
  • To ensure all facilities documentation is kept up to date and can be inspected by GPA Management or external bodies (SEPA, HSE, etc.) at any time.
  • To be accountable for the cleanliness, organisation, and safe operating practices within the facilities areas.
  • To liaise with contractors and others as required and to ensure all GPA safety rules and regulations are adhered to at all times.
  • To be conversant with all Health & Safety requirements and to carry out duties as required under current legislation.
  • Liaise with other Departments to ensure the safe and effective delivery of service to our customers and airlines.
  • To ensure the departmental SMS is implemented and developed and that appropriate and effective supporting operational procedures and processes are in place.
  • When required, carry out Risk Assessments in conjunction with Health & Safety and ensure that these are put into practice and adhered to at all times.
  • Carry out COSHH assessments when required. Ensure all assessments are kept within expiry date.
  • Ensure on-call cover is always in place as part of the department roster to ensure operational cover is available 24H on a call out basis
  • Have oversight that all Annual Leave is approved & recorded in the correct manner for the department.
  • Implement, monitor, and adhere to the Absence Management Policy, ensuring return to work interviews are carried out on all occasions.
  • To ensure that all facilities maintenance work carried out is performed in a safe and responsible manner.
  • To be aware and conversant with GPA local rules, requirements, and legislation.
  • Support the Health & Safety Manager and Property Manager in the implementation of energy efficiency schemes and initiatives.
  • Attend safety related committees and associated meetings on behalf of the department as & when required.
  • As part of a selected group, to fulfil and exercise duties required under the Emergency Orders.
  • To be conversant with the GPA Railway Operating manual and responsibilities.
  • To monitor sub-contractor performance by observing, spot checking & signing off all works.
  • Complete the monthly report for the department.
  • Provide out of hours support to the Airport Facilities team.
  • Be responsible for identifying the training needs of the section and continually review and develop the training programme.
  • Ensure PDRs are up to date for all staff under your control.
