At Glasgow Prestwick Airport we are continuing to work with our partners and follow the appropriate advice in relation to the outbreak of Coronavirus (Covid-19).
The Foreign Office now advises against all non-essential travel overseas. British citizens planning to travel overseas should refer to the Foreign Office coronavirus travel advice page for more guidance, and sign-up to email alerts.
If you’re a British traveller abroad who is usually based in the UK, the Foreign Office advises you return to the UK now. You should contact your tour operator or airline and read the Foreign Office dedicated coronavirus travel advice for the latest guidance on travel during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Citizens who decide that they still need to travel abroad should be fully aware of the increased risks of doing so. That includes the risk that they may not be able to get home, if travel restrictions are put in place. Anyone still considering travel needs to be realistic about the level of disruption they are willing and able to endure, and to make decisions in light of the unprecedented conditions we face.
British travellers currently abroad need to take account of the fast moving situation and plan accordingly, while flights remain available in many places.
As of Monday, 23 March 2020, the Scottish and UK Government confirmed that you should stay at home and ONLY leave the house for one of the following reasons;
- to shop for basic necessities and that should be limited to once a day
- to take exercise once a day – but alone or with your own household, not in groups
- for medical reasons or to care for a vulnerable person
- to travel to essential work if that cannot be done at home. Further guidance to employers is pending
Together we can help contain the spread. #StaySafe #StayHome
