Spain’s most cosmopolitan city is dominated by fascinating Gaudi architecture, and is one of Europe’s best preserved Gothic quarters. Barcelona not only boasts a delight of visually splendid art but the Catalan cuisine and tapas bars are enough to tempt any taste buds, and the nightlife is cutting edge.
A haven for sun worshippers, a Barcelona holiday also presents visitors with its portion of the Costa Brava coastline stretching an impressive 4.5km. Barceloneta is the closest beach to the city but for the more adventurous, check out Mar Bella Beach where watersports are available.
When is Barcelona take yourself to the heart of the city and you will see the famous sights of Las Ramblas, tree-lined boulevards and La Sagrada Familia amongst a host of other astonishing marvels. You can visit the Museu Picassa which features numerous works by Picasso from his early years and his later impressionist influenced pieces. As the home of Gaudi, you can expect to see his marvellous work across the city.
For a view across the whole city be sure to visit Montjuic Hill, and on the way back down take the Teleferico to the port. Of course, Barcelona is home to one of the biggest teams of football in the world, so there is something to do to suit everyone’s tastes.
A holiday to Barcelona boasts a chance to experience a compelling history, breathtaking sights, delicious cuisines and an abundance of things to do.
